Wow in a few hours Nigerians will go to the polls to elect the President that would lead the country for the next 4 years. And in a forthnight other leaders will be elected into Governorship, states assemblies and National assembly.
The Presidential election tomorrow is so important to Nigeria nay Africa and the world because we will be choosing the President of the most populous black nation in the world. So, you can see that the stake is so high!
Expectedly, palpable fear and tension are in the air. The whole world has also shifted focus to Nigeria. The politicians have done quite alot of politiking and all manners of campaign (both good and hateful) have been on since December 2014 till 12 mid night yesterday.
Some people were seen at the airport trying to flee into safety. Some have remained at home afraid of what will happen next. Friends, I bring you word of encouragement today from heaven and I will like you to please refuse to be frightened or intimidated. Take you permanent Voters card and go out and exercise your civic right by casting your vote for the candidate of your choice.
But who do I vote for? If this is your question? Then let me guide you by saying you should vote;
- Responsible and reliable leadership
- Truthful leadership
- Disciplined leaders.
- Leaders that are in touch with realities of the people.
- Leaders with values
The above should be non-negotiable regardless of which part of the country you or the political contenders are from. What is important is that you need to realise that there are no christian roads, there are no christian market etc etc Mediocre government will grossly rub off on you and I no matter which part of the country we are from. Poverty (like money) does not discriminate if you don’t do what you are supposed to do when you have the power to do it, you will have abundance of it!
It is often said that Nigerians are good people, our greatest challenge is leadership. Now you and I have the opportunity, a rare opportunity to use our voters’ card wisely. We are a praying country, we are a church going people but we need to remember that God has given us the power of choice. And as free moral agent God allows us to choose. However, we should be conscious of the fact that whatever choice we make, there are consequences that would follow.
‘’………..I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live’’
Deuteronomy 30 Vs 19.
Interesting. Can you imagine the impact of choice as stated in the scripture? God gave instruction and gave the answer saying ‘’choose life’’. Can you imagine the impact of choice as stated in the scripture? ‘’……….That both you and your descendants may live’’
Whatever choices we make, we and our descendants will partake of it.
A friend of mine, Adewale Matidi posted the story below on his facebook wall some days back;
“A signboard outside a restaurant read: “Eat as much as you can, your grand children will pay the bill.”
A man entered the restaurant and ate as he could, got a toothpick and was relaxing, then waiter gave him the bill,he laughed and pointed to the signboard, don’t you see, “my grandchildren will pay”.The waiter replied, “This is not your bill sir it’s your grandfather’s Bill.”
Whatever we do with our voters card, we should remember always that consequences will follow every choice we make and we will be better for it if we do what is right with the power we have as electorates. Transgenerational consequences are there friends. So, is transgenerational blessings!
So, what is God saying in the face of all the tension in town?
I looked into the scripture and found;
“Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid’’. John 16 Vs 33
Friends, let not your heart be troubled, it shall be well with Nigeria during and after the election! Amen!!
Also, I perceive in my spirit that;
- As money failed in Egypt in Genesis 47 Vs 15, so will money fail during this season of election in Nigeria.
- I hear “Godwin’’. It is not APC or PDP or APGA or any other party that will win but God! When God win, Nigeria has won!!
- There is a closing hymn that we sing in Yoruba that has been so loud in my spirit and it says; “…….Nipa Ife Olugbala Ki yoo si nkan…….’’ (Meaning: for the love of the Saviour, there shall be no evil occurrence). There shall be no evil occurrence before, during or after the election in Jesus Name. Amen
There are assurances ( actually full assurances) that I have received from God and I believe it will come to pass in Nigeria. There are 3 types of full assurances that the Holy Spirit taught me;
1. Full Assurance of Understanding- Colossians 2 Vs 2
2. Full Assurance of Hope- Hebrews 6 Vs 11
3. Full Assurance of Faith- Hebrews 10 Vs 22
(All scripture qoutation are from New King James Version of the Bible)
You and I need full assurance of understanding to be able to comprehend the magnitude of the task before us and to do the needful. We also need full assurance of Hope not to despair in the face of daunting national woes and calamity because God will come through for us individually and as a nation. And we also need full assurance of faith to lay hold of the good that God has in stock for us as a nation.
Friends, God is ready to change our story but we must play our part to make it a reality. God Bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Wow, welcome to the new Nigeria that we all have been waiting for!
